A discounted integrated dishwasher is not a useful purchase if its door cannot open fully in your kitchen. Read the installation drawing for the exact model before ordering. Photograph the existing recess and write down measurements rather than relying on descriptions such as standard size or fully integrated. Those labels do not describe every fitting detail.

Measure the whole recess

Measure width, height and usable depth at several points. An uneven floor or protruding pipe can reduce the actual space. Include the positions of water supply, drain and electrical connection and establish how lines can be routed without being crushed. Sliding a machine flush into a space is not the same as connecting it correctly.

Compare your measurements with the permitted ranges in the installation manual. Check whether plinth height, worktop and adjustable feet allow the intended position. Bosch’s installation guidance explicitly notes model-dependent measurements and methods. Information for a similar-looking predecessor is therefore not a reliable basis.

Include the furniture front in the plan

Fully integrated appliances require a suitable kitchen panel and the intended mounting parts. Ask whether the returned appliance includes these and whether an already fitted panel would actually suit your kitchen. Request photographs of the fittings and upper door area as well as the closed front.

Panel dimensions, weight and movement can determine suitability. Some designs move the panel differently as the door opens. Pay particular attention to plinth clearance. A bare appliance door that opens smoothly must still operate correctly once the intended furniture front is fitted.

Count installation work in the price

Establish which brackets, protective parts and templates the parts list requires. Missing small fittings may be easier to replace than an unsuitable door system is to alter. Nevertheless, check availability and cost before buying. Do not assume that arbitrary screws will be an acceptable replacement.

Arrange competent installation if the instructions or connection arrangements are unclear. The machine should also remain accessible for later servicing. Keep your measured drawing and the appropriate installation diagram together; an installer can then answer concrete questions instead of merely confirming the advertised product width.

Common questions

Can I reuse my existing kitchen panel?

Possibly, if its size, weight, fixing arrangement and door movement suit the replacement appliance. Have the combination checked against the installation instructions.

Does freestanding mean suitable under a worktop?

No. Its documentation determines whether this is permitted and which parts are intended for it. Do not remove a top cover simply on the assumption that it will fit.
